Due to the governments most recent announcement, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone all sessions in January and February. We have plenty of insipiring and fun sessions scheduled for the year, so please do look at our events calander. We will shortly schedule online COOKAlongs to tie in with our cookery school cuisines – we very much hope to be cooking with you very soon! Meanwhile our work continues providing meals for our most vulnerable communities through our Covid 19 Emergency Food Response.

What is foraging?

We have a rolling programme of wild food forages run by James Wood an Ofqual (gov) accredited forager. James runs engaging foraging courses, supplies the UK’s top restaurants with freshly foraged wild ingredients along with the UK’s best farm shops and delicatessens with foraged preserves. James teaches groups how to successfully identify edible plants . You can’t be much more seasonal eating wild food and our foraging walks reflect this, with special mushroom hunts in the autumn and elder flower picking in the summer.

Wild food forages take place in Didsbury, Chorlton, Sale, Hebden Bridge, Macclesfield and Heaton Park.

Family-friendly events

Our foraging sessions are £25 & £12.50 per concession including children under 16 accompanied by a paying adult, and usually last three hours, full day foraging events in Macclesfield cost more (£65 | £32.50) due to it being for 6 hours and including a foraged 3 course meal. If you are trying to book a place for a child on one of the events and are finding that there are no places left, please contact tracey@crackinggoodfood.org

Remember to dress for all weathers and wear suitable footwear for walking on muddy paths.

Please note that our foraging events are not suitable for wheelchair users or individuals with mobility issues – whilst the pace is gentle, you need to be comfortable being on your feet and be happy to climb over the occasional stile!

Coronavirus: safety measures are in place throughout our Cookery School programme.
