What is the Kitchen Kit Community Shop?

Based on the brilliant feedback we’ve received from our 8 Kitchen Kit Callout events and the growing demand for regular access to kitchen kit, we’re delighted to be opening our Kitchen Kit Community Shop from January 2026.

Our Kitchen Kit Community Shop offers pre-loved, clean, quality-checked and PAT-tested
kitchen kit to community groups across Greater Manchester. By redistributing essential items, we aim to make equipment more accessible to those who truly need it and continue reducing waste by keeping useful items in circulation. You can expect to find everything from pots and pans to
cutlery and crockpots!

This initiative builds on the success of our Kitchen Kit Call Out campaign, which has already achieved the following results:

Get Involved!

Getting involved is easy! You can either donate pre-loved kitchen kit or pick up kitchen kit to help your community. See below for all the details.

Donate Kitchen Kit by Hosting a Collection Bin

Could you help us collect pre-loved kitchen equipment? Hosting a donation bin is a simple, hands-on way to support our campaign.

How it works:

  1. Pick up your bin and poster from 422 Community Hub. What3Words///useful.dame.oldest
  2. Keep it on-site for 6 weeks (longer by arrangement).
  3. Send us a photo of your bin in place with your logo/poster.
  4. Encourage donations from staff, supporters or visitors.
  5. When your bin is full, let us know and we’ll arrange collection (or you can drop it back to us).

Your organisation can also sponsor £100 to help us purchase new kit and contribute to operating costs.

Any other things to recycle? Get in touch with Recycle Your Electricals

Are you holding onto an old blender, or have a broken toaster you need to get rid of? Don’t bin them – if they can’t be repaired, donated or sold, always recycle them!

Anything with a plug, battery or cable can be recycled and turned into something new – including the batteries and cables themselves. By recycling our old electricals, we help tackle e-waste – the fast-growing source of waste in the UK, and globally.

Recycling them is easier than you think! Simply bag them up and use Recycle Your Electricals’ Locator to find your nearest repair, donation and recycling points.
